American (M)idol

We're back with a new post! Sorry for the hiatus...

I was listening to the radio the other day while I was painting and this song came on and it was rockin. I mean it was a really good song. Good lyrics, good upbeat tempo, good singing, good instrumentation. It was really very good. I was even thinking, I might go get this CD it's so good. Then, after the song, the DJ lowers the boom...

"that was the latest from KELLY CLARKSON."

I have never, not once, watched the show called American Idol, but I still know her name from like 3 years ago because of all the media coverage, etc.

As far as musical conflicts go, this is up there, maybe even more severe than the problem of...do I like this band and listen to their awesome music even though it spouts ideas I'm against (namely, Live)

What am I supposed to do now? Whenever I hear it come on the radio, I want to change the station, but a lot of times, I can't. I want to hear this song (I think it's called 'Since You've Been Gone') but isn't it inherently wrong to subject my superior auditory organs to such noise pollution?

In terms of Clarkson, I am with you. I generally abstain. But in terms ideologies you're against, i think you'll find it difficult to stick to only music with lyrics that you are for. You might be suprised. Even bands that initially seem to stand opposed your line of thought, may even surprise you in the end...(namely Live)

I freely admit I readily rock out to Miss Clarkson when she's on the radio...Fat Tire would definitely help me feel better about it...about anything really...good thing there's a liquor store 400 yards from my house

Dammit, I wish no one had brought this up because...I think I like her too. I don't watch American Idol beyond the bad singers they filter out, I haven't liked anyone else from the show. But I did the SAME exact thing with the song "Breakaway." I'm a sucker for a waltz. I am pissed I like her.
